The Daily Mail is reporting today that Arsenal could be set for a shock bid from Manchester United striker Javier Chicharito Hernandez.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, it is no surprise that such links are being made, especially since Arsenal desperately need to sign another quality striker to help take the load of Olivier Giroud.
Upon analysis of this one, Chicharito could be a realistic option for the Gunners as the 25-year old striker is struggling to get any game time at Old Trafford under David Moyes ahead of Rooney and Van Persie, and a player of his quality should not be wasted on the bench. Whether United would be willing to sell to another rival club, that is another question. We know under Fergie that would never have been allowed to happen but with the new Moyes era, anything is possible.
Hernandez would offer Arsenal a great alternative in attack. He is the total opposite of what we currently have now with Giroud who is a big back-to-goal striker. With Chicharito you have a real goal poacher who does not leave the box much but if he is supplied with enough opportunities, you know he will tuck them away. Chicharito would offer something similar to what Ian Wright offered at Arsenal which is something that we need right now in case Giroud gets injured or is off form.
Even if Arsenal not able to sign Hernandez from Manchester United, Wenger still needs to look at other options to bring in for January. We can not afford to rely on Nicklas Bendtner as our backup striker as he is a liability in my opinion.
Do you think that Chicharito would be a good signing for Arsenal?
