Arsenal continue to be linked with all different sorts of strikers. Just today, we are being linked with a move for Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez. Now that would be a good signing for the Gunners but I doubt it will happen. Arsene Wenger was asked today about the link with Hernandez and it typical Wenger fashion he gave a one sentence answer: “That’s just the normal English coincidence with the next game!”

There is no doubt that a striker is needed in January so that Giroud can have someone to compete with and fill in for him when need be.

One striker though, would love to join Arsenal but I am not sure if he is the ‘big name’ striker we need right now.

Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar has confirmed that West Ham have been in contact with his agent but he would prefer a move to Arsenal.

Babacar, who was quoted on Sky Sports, said:“It is very encouraging when you are linked with clubs such as Arsenal, they are one of the best teams in the world and they do great things with young players.

“The manager there has such a good reputation to develop talent, but I am under contract with Fiorentina so they will have to decide if I have to go to England.

“I heard about West Ham through my agent, but they have not made anything official yet.”

The 20-year-old Senegal striker is currently on loan at Modena from Fiorentina and has been linked with a £5million move to the Premier League.

You can see what Babacar is all about in the video below. He is still very young and raw but those are the kind of players that Wenger has been know to turn into stars. Arsenal may consider signing him but as a long term investment. For now though, we need a striker who can come in and do the job straight away.
