The weekend is here and the transfer window is less than a month away. With business needed to be done, Jonathan Kaney brings positive news!
Arsenal to snub Carvalho in favour of loan swoop (Independent)
Last week it was Lars Bender, this week it’s William Carvalho who is the centre of attention over who will arrive in January to solve Arsenal’s midfield injury crisis.
The combative 23-year-old Portuguese international is a long term target for Arsene Wenger and the player has made it clear he is keen to move to the Emirates.
The press has been rife this week with stories that he is the man Arsene will move for in January and could be snapped up for £30-£35. However, interestingly the Independent are reporting that Arsene is reluctant to spend so much in January and will instead look for loan targets.
Gooners will remember Kim Kallstrom a couple of years ago and hope that Arsene sees sense and goes out and buys both Carvalho and Bender.
Real Madrid ready to offload Karim Benzema (Mirror)
The long running transfer saga of Karim Benzema to Arsenal has taken another twist with the Mirror reporting that Real Madrid will look to offload the troubled star for the right price.
Benzema is at the centre of a blackmail controversy in France and even the French Prime Minister has come out to attack him this week.
With a fractious relationship with Real boss Rafa Benitez and the prospect of being expelled from the French national squad, a move to the Emirates could be a good escape route for the prolific No 9 to reignite his reputation.
Despite his off-the-pitch problems, the 28-year-old is a superb striker and could be the missing piece we are looking for to win the Premier League.
Gunners to miss out on Ruben Neves (Mirror)
The Mirror reports that the Gunners are set to miss our out on rumoured target Ruben Neves.
The Porto wonder kid, who became the youngest player to captain his club in the Champions League earlier this season, has emerged as one of Europe’s most wanted talents after his superb performances and leadership for Porto, despite being just 18.
However, the midfield anchorman, already a senior Portuguese international with two caps, looks set to stay at Porto for now to develop his game and grow in his status as top dog at the club.
Can’t blame him for this one. He would be excellent cover for the injury crisis, but wouldn’t be a guaranteed first team player at the moment. Definitely one for the future though.
Arsenal rival Man United for West Ham starlet (Metro)
The Metro reports that Arsenal are ready to snap up West Ham youngster Reece Oxford.
The 16-year-old shot to fame after impressing in West Ham’s shock 2-0 win at the Emirates on the opening day of the season.
Apparently Wenger and his scouts have been so impressed by the England Under-17s captain that they will make an £8m move for him in January.
WENEGER AS MATTER OF URGENCE COME OUT OF HIS SELF CENTEREDNESS AND GO EITHER CARVILO OR BENDER AND ISCO FOR ARSENAL TO WIN THE LEAGUE
