Arsenal have been offered the opportunity too bolster their strike force by signing Lille forward Salomon Kalou in January according to the Daily Mail.

Kalou spent six years at Chelsea before leaving on a free transfer to French club Lille in the summer. During his spell at Chelsea he managed to rack up 36 goals in 156 appearances which is not a bad return considering he played out wide most of the time and did not start that many games.

Now it is being reported that Lille may be ready to let Kalou go back to the Premiership for £2.5million in the January window. The report goes on to state that Arsenal came close to signing Kalou in January 2012, but the forward turned down a move after he was asked to take a £20,000-per-week pay cut from his £60,000-per-week salary at Stamford Bridge.

Signing Kalou would be a decent move fore Arsenal considering the relatively low transfer fee and we would be getting a player at the peek of his career at 28-years old and one with Premier League experience. My biggest problem would be that Kalou is not an out-and-out striker like Giroud, and we need a player capable of playing the Giroud role. Kalou would be able to come in and play as striker but for me, he still is not too different compared to Gervinho. Both players can score but are not number 9’s which is what we need.

Do you think Kalou would be a good signing for Arsenal?
