Arsenal are flying high right now in the Premier League. Five points clear at the top on the league after 10 games is very impressive. The key now is to be able to maintain this run for the remaining 28 games. But for that to happen, Arsenal need to make one key signing in the January transfer window and this is to try prize Demba Ba from Chelsea.

Olivier Giroud is Arsenal’s only proper striker right now and I say ‘proper’ because I do not rate Bendtner at all! We need another striker to help take the load off Giroud and the best suited player would be Ba.

There have been talks of trying to get Benzema or Suarez in but those two deals seem very unlikely this January so we have to look at possible realistic options.

Demba Ba was close to joining Arsenal in the summer but Jose Mourinho blocked the move.

‘I was ready to go (to Arsenaal) but it didn’t happen,’ said Ba.

‘The boss said it. I spoke to him before. I won’t tell you what we said. I told him I would keep fighting for the flag.’

Apparently Mourinho was not willing to let Ba join a rival team. That could still be the case come January but it is clear for all to see that Mourinho has very little faith in Ba as he has hardly featured at all and for someone of Ba’s ability, his talents can not continue to be wasted on the bench. Ba himself should force a move away from Chelsea in January and come join Arsenal even if it is just on loan.

The second half of the season is always the hardest and injuries start to creep in, this is when we need a player like Ba. There is no point in Arsenal going out and bringing in a striker who does not fit into our current style of playing. Ba and Giroud share similar attributes thus Ba would not struggle to fit into the current Arsenal side.

Arsene Wenger must do all he can to try capture the signing of Ba. If that fails then another striker still has to come in in January if we are to push for a title win.
