As always is the case just before these big games, someone has to come out and say something about what could have been in the past! Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed that he almost signed Aaron Ramsey in 2008 when he was still Everton boss and that he had an chance to sign Ozil but turned it down.

‘Yeah, I was very close to signing Ramsey at Everton,’ said Moyes as quoted in the Daily Mail.

‘I had him in my house and Arsenal beat me to it.

‘As regards Ozil, we weren’t close to buying him but something was mooted (to us). We didn’t need that position at the time. It was put to us and it was just something at the time we didn’t need.

‘We had Shinji Kagawa and Wayne (Rooney) and people of a similar ilk so it wasn’t quite what we required at that time. We were looking at different positions.’

I am sure Moyes is kicking himself now for not going ahead and signing Ozil especially now that the Manchester United midfield is looking very weak.

In the match on Sunday, Arsenal will surely be looking to dominate the midfield just like they did against Liverpool and it if the Gunners can win that midfield battle then we should get a result.

Thankfully Arsenal beat off Everton to sign Ramsey in 2008. Ramsey is the hottest property in English football right now and it is a huge plus to have him on form going into the trip to Old Trafford.

If Ramsey and Ozil are on song come Sunday then you can be sure Arsenal will walk away with the victory. The pressure is all on Manchester United as they see this as a must win game if they still harbour any hopes of winning the title.
