Van Persie picked up an ankle injury on Saturday night against Benfica in Arsenal’s final pre-season game which we lost 2-1. After Van Persie gave us the lead he was forced to leave the game following a tackle by Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay. Van Persie was clearly not happy with this challenge and he had every right to be upset.
After the game, Wenger said: “It is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is.”
Hopefully it is not too serious!
I don’t blame Van Persie for being niggly about the challenge. It was clearly crude, if not deliberate, to plant your boot on the instep of your opponent. I only hope it’s not too serious.
Sadly it is the modern game to injure an opponent if you can and … do not listen to those who deny it. It is especially true if you know the other team has no big ugly minders to take revenge.
He has forgotten that vp is a glass,he must be silly for that tackle, why cant arsenal have someone that can disturb opponent such as de jong, gattuso and others, they make opponent fear those teams because of their hash tackles, just like stoke, birmigham, blacburm
@Subomi, being dutch I have to agree, I would love to see nigel de jong in our midfield, we need someone with serious bite that other teams will be wary of
hmmmmmmmm RVP gets injured!!!!…hmmmmmm now what woulod i do in the transfer window if i were wenger?…..hmmm well thats a hard one….now would i buy another 20+ goals a season striker???..maybe i would.
Wenger: the householder with a hole in his roof, praying it doesnt rain!…wanker!!!!!!!!!!
I hope it’s not too serious, definitely we’ll see him at z openings!!
It didn’t look like a terrible injury from the tape…he should be fit in at least a week or two
