The transfer rumour mill is working overtime again this summer. A couple of weeks ago, it was suggested that Arsenal were lining up a shock bid for Tottenham’s Jermaine Defoe. That story did not carry much weight at the time but funny enough this story has resurfaced again according to The Mirror.

Arsenal do need a new striker or two this summer but is Defoe the right signing for us to make? There is no doubting that the guy is a talented striker in he fits the bill of being the ‘fox in the box’ type of striker we need who know where the back of the net is. But the fact that he would be coming from Spurs does not sit well with me at all!

The reason this transfer may just happen is that Spurs are in the market for new strikers themselves and they feel that Defoe will be surplus to requirements thus they will be looking to offload him for around £10million. It will be interesting to see if Wenger would actually consider making a move for Defoe. If he does, how do you feel about it.

Defoe is not the class of striker we want. He is not better than van persie. Let wenger go for a striker that can make a difference.
