The transfer season in the Premiership officially kicked off today as Liverpool closed in on Jordan Henderson from Sunderland for £20million and Manchester United are getting Phil Jones from Blackburn for £16million. That is a lot of money that is being spent on these young English players but that is the premium you pay for English players and something that Arsene Wenger will not do.
Wenger had been linked with signing Phil Jones but I am sure he was put off by the £16million value. Wenger needs to change his approach in the transfer market and accept that he has to pay a premium some times to get quality players.
The pace at which these two deals are being done is also a sign that teams have cash to spend this summer and if you want a player you have to sign them now before someone else gets them.
Please take note Mr. Wenger, let us use that pace we show on the field in the transfer market this summer too.
