Barcelona are one of the finest clubs in world football, arguably the biggest and most successful, but their financial difficulties may make them the perfect club to swoop upon in the upcoming transfer windows.

Arsenal have a rich transfer history with the Catalan giants, prizing young talents like Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin from their clutches and selling Thierry Henry, Alex Song, Fabregas and others to the Spanish side.

On top of this, Alexis Sanchez arrived last summer and has become an instant success- which adds up to Jonathan Kaney believing the defending Champions League winners are the perfect team for Arsene Wenger to go shopping amongst.

Here, he’s highlight five top-class targets Arsenal should try to lure away from Catalonia in 2016- which could make Arsenal title contenders!

Use the navigation buttons to advance through pages- and let us know which Barcelona player’s you’d love to see at Arsenal in the comments!

Sergi Samper

The most realistic Barca target is 20-year-old La Masia graduate Sergi Samper who the Gunners have been linked with all season.

The defensive midfielder is struggling for game time at the Nou Camp with their central midfield options fully stocked with superstars, however is a huge talent and big things are expected of him in the future.

With Arsene Wenger’s ability to turn young players into superstars, a move for Samper could be wise, particularly with us struggling in central midfield.

Alen Halilovic

Labelled the “Croatian Messi” due to his outstanding dribbling ability and superb calmness on the ball, 17-year-old Alen Halilovic is another Barca youngster who Arsene may target if he isn’t given more opportunities in Barcelona.

Before he announced his move to the Nou Camp from Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, Halilovic was a target for the Gunners to replace Tomas Rosicky, and with the tough competition for places at the Catalans he may well make a move to the Emirates in the coming years.

Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets has played alongside Xavi and Iniesta in central midfield at the Nou Camp for most his career and while learning from the masters, has developed his own extraordinary talent to become one of the best and most complete central midfielders in the world.

The Spaniard has an unrivalled footballing intelligence that allows the superstars ahead of him to play with freedom and the team gains solidity in both defence and attack.

If any midfield player in the world would be perfect to build the Gunners flowing attacks and allow our creative players to thrive without fear of shipping goals at the back, it would be Busquets.

Lionel Messi

A long shot, but not as crazy as you might think. Messi has revealed an admiration for the Gunners this month and there are a number of reasons that Messi to Arsenal could happen at some point in the future with tax issues, a difficult relationship the board, Neymar beginning to eclipse him and most likely, the potential search for a new challenge in his career after winning everything at the Nou Camp.

The Argentine is the best player on the planet and despite the reported £600,000 a week wages he would want to make a move to the Premier League, if there was any chance of bringing him to the Emirates we should take it.

Another long shot, but with Neymar being much younger than Messi and expressing an interest in playing in the Premier League you never know what can happen in the next few years.

Neymar is already one of the best players in the world, but is facing similar problems on the tax front as Messi with Spanish authorities investigating him, not to mention a huge controversy over his transfer to Barcelona from Santos.

Alongside Messi and Luis Suarez, Barcelona have the most fearsome attack in world football, but a lot can change in football and if things turn sour in Spain the Brazil captain may well want to try his luck in the Premier League one day. With his flair and love for attacking football, where better than Arsenal for a player of his ability?
