Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed that he is set for a further SEVEN weeks on the sidelines due to a knee injury.

The German was thought to be nearing a return to first-team football after initially being ruled out for six weeks following an injury in last month’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.

“I have already been out for five weeks and will be out for another seven weeks,” Ozil is quoted as saying by The Metro.

“That is a really long time but that is the way it is in football sometimes. My head is held high and we look forward.”

Although Ozil was hardly setting the world alight with his pre-injury performances for us, The Gooner has grown to miss the 26-year-old to some degree.

If Cesc Fabregas’s 12 assists in 14 Chelsea appearances wasn’t enough to make Arsene Wenger question his decision not to re-sign him, then Ozil’s latest setback is sure to provide more food for thought.

Wenger, of course, opted against signing Fabregas from Barcelona on the grounds that he already had Ozil, which looked a bad decision at the time but it looks a shocker now, eh?
