Arsenal continue to be linked with new striker for the January transfer window. The lastest name being linked with a move to the Gunners is Getafe hitman Ciprian Marica according to the Metro.

Arsenal would be rivaling Tottenham for the signature of 28-year old Marica. Spurs were believed to have the inside track on the Getafe forward, according to sources in Spain last week, but it now appears that the Gunners have moved into pole position.

Marica is a Romanian international who has 66 caps for his country and has managed to score 24 goals. Marica who is 6ft 1 is normally deployed as a second striker, his goal-getting at club level is nothing to write home about but he brings more than goals to the table.

At 28, he’s pretty experienced and has played for Dynamo Bucharest, Shakhtar Donetsk, Stuttgart and Schalke, as well as Getafe – who he only joined in the summer.

He may not be the high profile type of striker Arsenal fans want but he would be a cheaper alternative to the likes of Benzema and Benteke.
