Any team can play the best football on earth and still lose the match if momentary lapses of concentration lead to silly mistakes. No Arsenal fan will ever forget that heart breaking Martins’ goal in the Cup Final against Birmingham a couple of years back, with Koscielny & Szczesny the culprits. That cup final (insignificant as it maybe to most managers) could have ended our trophy drought and maybe, just maybe we could have retained our star player like Cesc, Van Judas, etc…

It is true we have started this season with a string of impressive team performances and sit pretty on top of the league. A lot of fans will agree if I say Flamini has been crucial to our run so far this season. Flamini (no longer Fla-money!), is at the heart of everything good in that 11 match unbeaten run. His ability to snuff out danger and his positional awareness as well as his leadership on the pitch is exceptional. It is no coincidence then that we have recently lost two matches, and looked shakey in the other, without him in the side doing what he does best. In the Champions League against Dortmund, Ramsey gave the ball away cheaply in a very dangerous area for the first goal and Sagna was caught on the break when he should have been covering so late in the game. Forward a week later and it was Carl Jenkinson’s turn. His horrific back header, coupled with overall below par performance, has cost Arsenal the Carling Cup this season. I don’t want to be harsh on the guy because he is a boyhood Arsenal fan but he doesn’t look ready for the highest level yet.

Despite the recent losses, Arsenal are flying high in the premier league at the moment. If we manage to avoid these moments of madness and avoid those silly mistakes, there is no reason why we can’t win a major silverware this season.

What do you think Gunners?
