Per Mertesacker has explained why Arsenal have already let in 16 goals this season in only 7 games. The German defender cites the poor communication in the side as the major problem. We have new signing from different nationalities and it is going to take some time for everyone to start to understand each other.
“I’ve only been gone a month from Germany. I have not yet properly acclimatised,” he said in an interview with the German Football Association website, www.dfb.de.
“Sometimes it feels like an extended holiday. Only slowly am I starting to get used to the fact that the centre of my life is now actually in London.
“I have been living in England since the middle of September, but it doesn’t yet feel like home. I don’t have my own house or my own flat. There is a lack of anchor points which I already had in Germany. But that takes time, it’s normal.
“We have many new players, but I feel that we have integrated very quickly. I still have communication problems, but given the circumstances this is inevitable.”
Thank you Per for bringing up this point. Too many fans who want instant success on the pitch often forget that players need to understand each other’s verbal and body language in order to find the right rythm. Continue the good work.

Like how we have patiently waited for Bentner, vela, Traore, Denilson, Eboue, Diaby, Fabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, Fabiaski, Almunia to Gel and that they will become the next big thing in football like AW has been saying for last 6yrs. Where are all those players now? While we are waiting for Mertaserker to settle, RVP is packing his bag to leave. When he leaves we now have to wait another 2 yrs for another sticker that comes in and settle? Poor management if you ask me…
