There has been a lot of speculation about Arsenal signing a new central defender this summer. It is a must for Arsenal to sign a central defender as we struggled in that department last season. One name that has been mentioned over the last couple of weeks is that of Blackburn’s defender Chris Samba.
Samba is a decent defender but I know some fans are not happy that we are being linked with him as they would prefer a big name player to be signed. But judging from what Wenger has said, Samba seems to be the man he wants.
“I’d agree that we’re after an experienced defender, maybe one who is used to the English game,” said Wenger.
That means Wenger is targeting a central defender who has played in the Premiership and that means it could easily be Samba that he is talking about. On the other hand it could be Bolton’s Gary Cahill who would also be a good signing but would cost much more that Samba and we all know how strict Wenger is about the value of signing new players.
