Arsenal have been handed a boost ahead of the January transfer window, with reports indicating Paris Saint-Germain are ready to sell Ezequiel Lavezzi.

The Daily Express states that the summer arrival of Angel Di Maria has left Lavezzi surplus to requirements, tipping him to move in the New Year if a ‘big offer’ from Europe appears.

Arsenal unsuccessfully pursued striking additions over the summer, flirting with Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema before eying Lavezzi’s PSG team-mate Edinson Cavani.

Neither move materialised though and a move in January for the 30-year-old is a possibility, although Valencia and Inter Milan could provide competition– whilst Spanish reports linked Premier League rivals Liverpool with the player over the summer.

Arsenal may have concerns about Lavezzi’s suitability in the squad though, with the Argentine having limited experience through the middle and Arsenal having a wealth of talent available in the wide positions.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis Sanchez and Joel Campbell are the clear options on the flanks, whilst Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla have regularly featured in order to fit into the competitive first-team.
