Imagine your favorite team playing 10 games in a course of one month which includes three different championships, it’s quite mouthwatering for a diehard fan. And being an Arsenal fan, it’s the same case with me too. But one thing that bothers me is that “are the Gunners tough enough to cope with this rough”? With quality players like Cesc Fabregas, experienced players like William Gallas, talented players like Arshavin and Vermaelen and fragile players like Walcot and Rosicky, does Arsenal need anything else?

Arsenal has to play in FA Cup, Premeir League and most favoured Champions League with some tough oppositions and with some not so tough. One thing that bothers me are the back to back matches against Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool. I think it’s synonym for Arsenal to swim through a lava pool. Most of the Arsenal fans are suggesting Wenger to bring a striker to further strenghten the attack to make it easier for the gunners to pass this stage easily, but Wenger may have something else in mind. I won’t mind a new striker joining us who might be well experienced than Bendtner. Hope to the Arsenal that they pass this month with charm.

Lucky Arsenal, the Gunners were at their worst while Everton were at their best, it is good that we did get the draw…
Not a good way at all to start our first premier league in 2010

Sports - December 12, 2007

Player ratings:
Almunia: 5.5 (Inconsistent form from this guy.)
Gallas: 6 (The way Tim Cahill escaped from him made me lose confidence in the defensive line.)
Vermaelen: 6 (Not his usual best.)
Traore: 6 (You can’t ask more from the third left back.)
Sagna: 6 (Most of the game he was in a battle with Pienaar.)
Denilson: 6.5 (Scoring a goal is the only good thing he did. I hope the injury is not serious.)
Diaby: 7 (The only player who was alive in the team.)
Ramsey: 5 (Good but needs more experience.)
Nasri: 5.5 (Bad passes, slowing the game down all the time.)
Arshavin: 6 (Woke up only the last 15 minutes.)
Eduardo: 7 (He had a good game.)

Subs:
Vela: 6 (Did okay the left side.)
Rosicky: 6.5 (Thank god he was not injured in this game!)
Merida: N/A

What do we need and who we should buy? It is the question that everyone thinking about right now. With less than 2 days left before the markets open and the transfers start, new players in new teams. One of these teams is Arsenal who did announce on many occasions that they thinking about buying but never told who is going to be bought so I decided to give you all the possible transfers that Arsenal could make:

Sports News - January 18, 2009

1- A new Goalkeeper:
Most of the season Almunia has failed to impress with his inconsistent performance, we did concede 10 goals from 20 goals as Goalkeeper mistakes, this is really a big percentage for a Top 4 goalkeeper. I don’t know if David James has these numbers but anyway my point is we need to do something about the goalkeeper. We have to sign a new one or maybe if Fabiansky can make the step up or maybe Almunia starts to show improvement before the end of January transfers. So if we are going to sign a keeper, I can see that Arsene Wenger prefers the goalkeeper to be old and have plenty of experience so in my head one name and that is Shay Given if he is available.

2- A new Center Back:
With Djourou out I can see we have three defenders (Vermaelen, Gallas and Silvester) because the fourth is useless (Senderos). Even when the three others are starting in the first team line-up, he can’t make it to the subs bench. I don’t know if he can make it to the reserves team seriously! I don’t know what is he good for? The best option is to sell him and bring someone else. I think Sol Campbell who has been training with us for last 3 months will be useful as a free agent.

3-A new Midfielder:
As a replacement to Song who will be out in January. Fabregas and Denilson both are injured so we have to see when they will come back and asses them how much the injuries affected them. In the worst scenario, we will buy but I really doubt it since Ramsey, Merida, Diaby, Song and Denilson have all improved and that they are quality players. The candidates that we might sign are: 1- Matuidi who we did chase last summer but Arsene Wenger decided to give Song, Denilson and Diaby a chance to prove their quality and they did it. 2-Felipe Melo, the player that we went on war with Juventus to sign. The good think about him is that he can play also as Center Back so it will be very good for the depth of the team. 3-Patrick Vieira, no comment about our old ex-captain because we don’t need one! This signing will help him so he can retire with us. If it comes down to me, I will choose Vieira even if he is not the same but he is the cheaper option and his presence will motivate the players. Also all we need is a player who will fill the gap until Song comeback.

4- A new Center Forward:
The Arsene Wenger dilemma, with RvP having a long term injury, Walcott and Bendtner out to half of January and Eduardo and Carlos Vela not performing well, it is obvious and clear that is the position we are suffering the most and we need to fix it very fast but meanwhile we are the best scoring team with 51goals from 19 games. There are a lot of candidates but still till now no names and nothing is clear. The best option is to wait for the return of Bendtner and Walcott to see how they are going to perform and also wait and give Eduardo and Vela more time. But I think either Henry or Carlton Cole should join us.

Arsene Wenger has never signed four in one transfer window so I don’t think the four signing will happen together but mostly it will be two signings and a striker is absolutely one of those two signings, and the other one maybe it is going a center back.

As it did happen again, 4-1, but this time without our two best players. And this time much harder because it is an away-from-home match. But the Gunners did prove again how much they learned especially
Diaby, Song and Ramsey who were our skippers tonight. If I was hearing myself saying this 6 months ago, I would be laughing at myself.
I really loved how the fans did start to cheer Diaby and Song, they are really on their way to greatness.
That proves how much they have improved.

Aaron Ramsey Arsenal 2008/09

Player ratings:

Almunia:7 (Calm night for the goalkeeper not to much to do.)

Gallas:7 (Strong in the air and on the ground didn’t let anything happen.)

Traore:6.5 (Good performance overall. He looked much better than before.)

Song:8 (He had his own song and he scored his first goal of the season. What a way to end a year.)

Diaby:7.5 (Another great performance from the Frenchman. I hope he keeps performing great.)

Ramsey:8 (Wow, very pretty goal and one assist. Very good game from the 19 year old.)

Nasri:8 (Another great performance, an assist and his first goal in the league.)

Eduardo:6.5 (He is coming back but slowly. He looked much more confident after his goal.)

Arshavin:5.5 (Very tired. Had a great moment but he looks in another dimension.)

“Arsenal ruthless – Pomy toothless” were the last words of commentators when both the teams met last time for the home fixture of Arsenal. Will it be repeated again? I guess so. But we had RVP and Cesc back then. Who are going to step in their boots? Arsenal will desperatly wish to end their decade of football with a victory, but what might hurdle their way is the missing number of superb players and quality. I hope they have a smashing win (and every Gunner thinks the same way)

Fancy Colin Lewin’s (Arsenal’s Physio) list of injured Gunns. Eight first team players are out due to injuries of one type or other. One cannot resist seeing big names as Cesc Fabregas, RVP and Rosicky out of that list as soon as possible. Similarly one cannot deny injuries as a neccesary evil. But ever thougt why Arsenal have such a big list of injured well established players? Wenger emphasised that there isn’t anything wrong with the training players observe and he is satisfied with the medical staff. But why Gunners are more vulnerable to injuries? I think there would be something that Arsenal is lacking in terms of physical fitness or physical training. Hope to see all the Gunns fire together.

Eduardo: Every body is talking about what is he lacking? Confidence or skill or is it the fear of injury that is making him look like a rookie finisher? Do you think he still needs time to come back to his best form and class?

Well i think he has to prove something because Wenger will not be reluctant to spend money in January.

Firstly, many of us after the Hull city match said that we can play and cope without Fabregas. But it took Fabregas 28 minutes to prove to us that we are all wrong including me.
The bottom line of the match: “Without any doubt anymore, Fabregas is Irreplaceable”.

Football - Arsenal v Middlesbrough Barclays Premier League

Player ratings:

Almunia:7 (I think he did well with crosses and set pieces against a team that most of their goals come from crosses and set pieces, good to see him performing well.)

Sagna: 6.5 (When it comes to defence, he is the best RB but still needs to work a lot on going forward.)

Traore: 7 (Cameback from injury and had a great game, produced a great pass to Walcott that did lead to the second goal.)

Vermaelen: 8 (Solid, Strong as always didn’t let anything pass him.)

Gallas: 7.5 (Made Agbonlahor and Heskey quiet, good game from him and made a great tackle against Agbonlahor in the last few minutes of the game.)

Denilson: 6.5 (Brilliant first half, had a back problem in the second half which lead to replace him.)

Song: 7.5 (The beast of the midfield, I will miss this guy, see you soon.)

Diaby: 8 (Brilliant match since he came back from injury and he has been playing very well, great game Abou.)

Eduardo: 6 (Worked hard especially in the few times that he had in the second half but he still needs a lot of time, really made me mad when he missed that chance.)

Arshavin: 6.5 (Struggled to make an impact at the beginning but when Fabregas entered he came back to life.)

Nasri: 6.5 (Busy on the Wings, good game from the Frenchman.)

Subs:

Fabregas: 10 (Came, Unleashed hell and left. Performance similar to Steve Austin in WWE. Made a great impact, scored two great goals then left as if to prove that he is irreplaceable.)

Walcott: 7 (He is coming back, not yet his best but good game from Walcott.)

Ramsey : N/A (Not enough time)

There have been rumours that Harry Redknapp is after our former captain Patrick Vieira. Now I do not know about you but I would be livid if Vieira were to ever join Spurs! After all Patrick did for us (and I love him to bits) seeing him in a Spurs shirt would literally make me puke! I have a couple of friends who are Liverpool supporters and they feel the same way after Michael Owen signed for Manchester United.

Now I am saying that Vieira was more of an idol at Arsenal than Owen was at Liverpool. Vieira was our captain fantastic whereas Owen just stood in the box for Liverpool and poached a bagful of goals for them and they thought they had a hero. Vieira is one hundred times better the man than Owen so you can imagine how pissed off I would be with Vieira joining Spurs.

David Seaman Announces His Retirement Due To Shoulder Injury

To add to this story, the press started to make a mountain out of this story and have pulled Thierry Henry into the equation saying that Henry has advised Vieira to join Spurs! Now how the hell would Henry say such a thing?? If Vieira was Mr. Arsenal then Henry is the Godfather of Arsenal!

I seriously doubt Vieira would be stupid enough to join Spurs, he is not only a better footballer than Owen but I am sure he is also smarter than the scouser!
