This is without a doubt Arsenal’s best chance to win the Premier League in recent memory, though it’s clear the side is lacking in certain areas and January recruits are necessary.

For Arsenal, they can only aspire to bring the best of the best into the Emirates and doing that in January would put the Gunners as firm title favourites- whilst also giving them a tremendous platform to build European success upon.

Therefore, Jonathan Kaney has identified three January signings that he believes would assure Arsenal of their first Premier League success since 2004. Although ambitious, Arsenal have the funds and lure available to bring this players to North London- and it would be bloody fantastic.

Lars Bender

Of all the positions we need to strengthen, defensive midfield is the most important. Even before Coquelin’s injury we were extremely light in the middle of the park and Leverkusen star Lars Bender would be an excellent addition to solve this problem.

The 26-year-old German international is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Bundesliga and has similar qualities to Mikel Arteta, but has far more steel in the middle of the pitch.

He would cost somewhere between £15-£20m, but at just 26 and entering his peak years, the fee would be more than worth it to bring quality into a position we severely need to strengthen. His influence in the squad adds another dimension to our squad that could be the difference between winning the League and coming second.

Antoine Griezmann

The Frenchman is a born goal scorer and could be the prolific and exciting right-sided forward the Gunners have been crying out for. He’s currently one of the most feared attackers in La Liga right now and would have no trouble converting to the Premier League.

One of the most devastating features of our attacks this season has been the pace and movement in the side, particularly with Walcott up front being supplied by our midfielders looking to slip him in behind the defence at every opportunity.

Griezmann shares a lot of qualities with Walcott in his movement and pace but is arguably a much better finisher than Theo. An attacking midfield three of Ozil, Sanchez and Griezmann would be a league winning combination for sure.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Despite being 34, Zlatan is one of the best players in the world and has picked up silverware in every country he’s played. The iconic striker has yet to ply his trade in England, but Arsenal would be perfect for him if he did decide he wanted a challenge in England before he retires.

He’s been linked with us for years, and despite age creeping up on him, he is a born winner, champion and goal scorer and he is exactly the kind of striker we are missing at the moment. With the tireless creative players we have to supply him, signing him could be a masterstroke and is as close to a guarantee of League success as you can get in world football.
