Arsenal have opened discussions to bring two German internationals to North London in 2016, with one arrival set to be a bargain.

Sportwitness attribute German outlet SportBild with the report, who state Arsenal have opened talks to bring Karim Bellarabi in from Bayer Leverkusen and Benedikt Howedes from Schalke.

25-year-old Bellarabi would provide a natural wing option on the right for Arsenal, with Theo Walcott chasing a striker role, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey both see their future in the centre of midfield.

Howedes, meanwhile, would add greater competition to Arsenal’s defence and would improve the squad depth when injuries take their toll. Remarkably, it’s stated a clause in the 27-year-old’s contract would allow Arsenal to sign the World Cup winner for just €10m.

Schalke may therefore be tempted to sell in January to get a higher fee for the player’s services but a move for the German duo would most likely take place next summer, with both player’s fighting for a spot amongst Germany’s European Championships squad.
