Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been branded an ‘uncontrollable lunatic’ by former Juventus stopper Stefano Tacconi.
Szczesny, currently on-loan for the season with Serie A title hopefuls Roma, has endured inconsistent displays with the Italian side both domestically and in the Champions League.
A mistake in Europe saw Roma lose 3-2 to BATE Borisov in September and the 25-year-old has kept just one clean sheet in 12 appearances for the Giallorossi.
Clearly unconvinced by the Polish international’s displays, Tacconi slammed the goalkeeper when speaking to Gazzetta TV.
“He’s a good goalkeeper, there’s no doubt about that. But he’s an uncontrollable lunatic – he’s completely mad. And for this reason he’s a risk.”
Szczesny is considered the long-term first-choice goalkeeper for Arsenal but lost his spot to David Ospina last season, whilst the arrival of Petr Cech over the summer saw him forced out the exit door on a temporary basis.
Experience is key to Szczesny’s development but his decision making has always been brash, which could prove to be his downfall moving forward.
