3 signings Arsenal MUST make in January

Arsenal are currently flying in the Premier League and have a chance to lift their first Premier League title since 2004.

However, Manchester City and Manchester United will give them a real run for their money and the Gunners squad isn’t quite near completion. There’s no doubt that Arsenal need to recruit in the New Year, if they are to enjoy success.

The shopping-list appears to be the same as in recent windows, in the form of strikers and defensive midfielders, but Jonathan Kaney doesn’t necessarily agree; picking these three players as his ideal January recruits.

Isco

If there’s any chance of signing creative magician Isco in January we should take it. He’s one of the most gifted players in La Liga and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the past few months. Despite being a fan favourite, the hierarchy at the Bernabeu don’t seem to trust him as a first team player and he just can’t seem to nail down a regular place in the side. Reports continue to say he’s handed in a transfer request at Madrid and is keen on a move to London. If he’s available, we should go all out to get him to give us another world class option in attack.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

After a bad injury to long-term defensive midfielder target William Carvalho and him signing a new contract with Sporting, signing Grzegorz Krychowiak is even more important now. With central midfield cover a transfer priority, the 25-year-old Sevilla star is tall, powerful, strong and fast and would provide a different dimension in the first team to the classy Cazorla and combative Coquelin and is a big improvement on the ageing Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini.

The Pole is a proven winner on the European stage after helping Sevilla to the Europa League last season, but Gooners will have to hope the rumours he’s close to a new bumper contract in Spain don’t come true.

Stephan El Shaarawy

Another player I would like to see arrive at the Emirates in January is flamboyant Italian Stephan El Shaarawy who is returning to his best form after an injury lay off. A couple of years ago he was touted as one of most promising strikers in Europe and valued at £40m before a bad injury saw him lose form and fitness and eventually slip off the radar. At just 22-years-old and with Milan’s striker lineup flooded, there is a good chance we could get him for a cut price deal in January.
