5 players Arsenal are set to sign in January

|

It may feel like the summer transfer window has only just gone away but we’re rapidly approaching the January transfer window.

With the Gunners locked in a battle for the Premier League title, the general consensus is that Arsene Wenger will do what he didn’t do in the summer- and sign a senior outfield player.

Rumours continue to float around the web and Jonathan Kaney has picked out five recruits that Arsenal seem odds-on to sign in the New Year, all of whom will add a huge boost to Wenger’s first-team squad.

Varying from established stars to exciting up-and-coming youngsters, it seems our January shopping list has a bit of everything!

Gregorz Krychowiak 4609804

With central midfield cover a transfer priority, the club are being heavily linked with Sevilla star Grzegorz Krychowiak in January according to reports from Spain.

A powerful defensive midfielder with height, strength and pace, Krychowiak provides a different option in the first team to the classy Cazorla and combative Coquelin and is a big improvement on the ageing Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini.

He was linked with us all summer, and at 25 and proven on the European stage, he would provide world class competition in the centre of the pitch throughout a long season at the Emirates that could see us suffer if we lost Santi or Coquelin to injury.

Alexasandr Kokorin

Aleksandr Kokorin

24-year-old Dynamo Moscow striker Alexasandr Kokorin striker has also been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, and with his contract running down, a bid of £7m would be enough to bring him to the Emirates early in January.

A relative unknown to most Gunners fans, Kokorin is the most likely striker to arrive in January as we have tracked him since the summer and reportedly failed in a loan attempt.

He’s never managed more than 10 goals a season in Russia, but as a big powerful number 9 in the mould of Giroud, he could well be a good bit of business for the club as a prospect and backup signing who wouldn’t demand first team football straight away.

Stephan El Shaarawy

Arsene Wenger looks set to make a move for the flamboyant Italian who was touted as one of most promising strikers in Europe a couple of years ago. Gooners may remember a transfer battle with Man City over his services for around £40m before a bad injury saw him lose form and fitness and eventually slip off the radar.

He’s been heavily linked with the Gunners in the past and with him just 22-years-old and rediscovering his goal scoring form on loan at Monaco, all signs point to El Shaarawy arriving in January if we can agree a fee with AC Milan.

Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane

The 19-year-old German is one of the brightest talents in world football and has put clubs across Europe on alert after scoring his seventh goal in nine games for club and country, coming off the bench to rescue a 2-2 draw for Schalke against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

The 6 foot winger has all the attributes of a world class player and a January move for the young German could be on the agenda for Arsene Wenger who will be looking to snap him up before another elite club does.

Aaron Leya Iseka

Leya Iseka is the younger brother of other reported Gunners target Marseille star Michy Batshuayi and has caught the attention of clubs across Europe after his assured performances up front in his nine league appearances for Belgian giants Anderlecht this season.

Arsene Wenger has a fantastic track record of identifying young players, particularly from France and Belgium and moulding them in to superstars. A January signing for the highly rated youngster is on the cards, with him most likely loaned back to Anderlecht to develop in the first team.
