Arsenal bounced back from their shock loss in the Champions League in midweek in spectacular fashion with a 3-0 victory against Manchester United at home.
Arsenal pummelled United with 3 goals in the first twenty minutes of the game.
Alexis Sánchez opened the scoring in the 6th minute, back-heeling in to the near post. Just a minute later Mesut Özil put in a second with assistance from Theo Walcott.
Alexis Sánchez then put in a third goal for the Gunners from eighteen yards out in the 19th minute.
Petr Cech made a couple of good saves and Manchester United were an improved side in the second half, but could not find an answer to beat the Gunners who were the better team throughout the game.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a good chance late on and could have added a fourth for Arsenal.
It is a big win for Arsenal, being just the second win against United in 14 meetings in the league.
The manager Arsène Wenger praised performances and Arsenal’s start, insisting teams cannot play many games on the same level, expressing: “We did not give them any chances to score and that was vital. We surprised them with our start.
“From Petr Cech to Theo Walcott we only had superb performances. I have managed many strong teams and never had one that played 60 games at the same level. You have to accept that we are human beings.
“I’ve been at the club for 19 years and I know what you want is a strong response in a big game when you have a big disappointment.
“We are in it, we are two points off the league leaders, Manchester City, so I hope that result today will give us belief.”
Arsenal are now just 2 points behind Manchester City in second in the Premier League table.
