José Baiting Arsenal Again?

José Mourinho appears to be up to his mind games again after saying Arsenal are actually ‘big spenders’ who are ready to be considered title contenders.

He thinks the level of spending means Arsenal should be put in a category as competition for the title.

The Chelsea boss has previously accused clubs of trying attempts at buying the title.

He tried to dispute beliefs Arsenal are cautious in the market by saying: ‘If you add up the amounts clubs have spent in the last three or four years I think maybe you will find a surprise. If you put Ozil, plus Alexis Sanchez, plus [Calum] Chambers, plus [Mathieu] Debuchy, you will maybe find a surprise.”

“It’s a fantastic squad with good players, fantastic goalkeeper, they are more than ready to be title contenders.

“This is the easiest thing to do, get a calculator. It leaves no space for speculation. If you want to be honest, objective and pragmatic it is the easiest job for a manager or journalist.”

Wenger has spent almost £145 million since summer 2013, though with Arsenal spending being a controversial issue amongst fans and those outside of the club, not all may share his view.

He also took a swipe at Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini for criticising him in an interview.

Mourinho was likely putting on pressure ahead of the Community Shield clash this weekend between Chelsea and Arsenal.

The manager has a torrid relationship with Arsenal, including accusing the club of being ‘boring’.
