Arsenal have made an offer to sign defensive midfielder Asier Illarramendi from Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Illarramendi, only signed for the Spanish giants in 2013 from Real Sociedad in a deal worth £24million. However he has struggled to hold down a regular starting place in the team – and now looks certain to leave.
Fellow La Liga side Athletic Bilbao have made an approach for him, but Spanish newspaper Marca reports that the 24-year-old has also received an offer to join the Gunners after the current season has passed.
The report says that Illarramendi is happy with the offer, and the location of the club is a big plus, but he could end up accepting a transfer this month to get out of Madrid instead of waiting for Arsenal.
