Arsenal star hits out at tactically naive team-mates

Olivier Giroud has admitted that his Arsenal team-mates are tactically inept when it comes to protecting a lead.

Arsene Wenger’s tactics have come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks after losing from a winning position against Swansea City earlier this month – a defeat that came days after surrendering a three-goal lead against Anderlecht.

Wenger has since engaged in a verbal spat with ex-Arsenal forward Paul Merson, who has recently claimed that the Frenchman should be sacked.

Speaking before Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United, in which he scored a blinding consolation, Giroud said: “For us, the most important thing is to be consistent and to know how to close the game after “winning” it, like Anderlecht or Swansea away.”
