Real Madrid midfielder and reported Arsenal target Sami Khedira has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich.

The German has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates in recent months, with his contract in the Spanish capital set to expire in June.

But the 27-year-old is keen on returning to his homeland and has agreed in principle to join the Bundesliga giants next summer, according to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

Gunners captain Per Mertesacker recently revealed that he urged his compatriot to join him in North London, telling a Q&A session: “I’m up for more quality Germans to [join] the club. Ozil and I spoke with Khedira a few times to join Arsenal. His contract is up next summer.”

Speculation over a January exit has subsided recently following the news that Luka Modric is expected to miss the next three months, with Khedira expected to deputise for the Croatian.

That’s that then.
