Arsenal are reportedly preparing to table a £30m January bid for Borussia Dortmund defender and Germany World Cup winner Mats Hummels.
The 25-year-old, whose contract expires in 2017, is said to be keen on leaving the club this winter as Dortmund sit BOTTOM of the Bundesliga table.
Hummels has also courted interest from Manchester United but it is thought that he would prefer a switch to the Emirates, according to The Daily Mirror.
Our defensive situation is an absolute shambles and bolstering that back line with a player like Hummels – who kept Per Mertesacker out of the Germany team during the World Cup – would represent a massive coup for us.
It would be a fantastic signing, but Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar and Celtic’s Virgil van Dijk have also been linked – considerably cheaper alternatives so, well, we can tell what Wenger is going to do.
