Although Arsene Wenger has spent over £30m on two occasions in the last two years, there are still frustrations at his ways in the transfer market. The Frenchman is set in his methods, and if his valuation of a player is below what the selling club demands, then nine times out of ten a deal will not go through.
This has led to a host of players escaping the Gunners’ grasp over the course of the past few years, and has left his squad shirt in vital areas. To this day the London club have been unable to truly replace Patrick Vieira, while only five first-team defenders could cost Arsenal this season.
If there’s one manager out there who would not make the same mistakes (although he may make others) it’s Harry Redknapp. The ‘wheeler dealer’ has forged his reputation by snapping up bargains in the transfer market, and has almost become a parody of himself with his deadline day antics.
