5 Strikers who will not join Arsenal this January

|

It is no secret that Arsenal are looking for a new striker to sign in the January transfer window. Even before Theo Walcott’s knee injury which rules him out for the rest of the season, Arsene Wenger was still short of striking options.

With Walcott now being ruled out, the pressure is on to find another striker or two who can help Arsenal continue their push for the Premier League title.

Olivier Giroud has been holding up the line well by himself but a combination of fatigue, injuries and dip in form have not helped the Frenchman and he needs some help urgently.

As you can imagine, Arsenal have been linked with a lot of names of top strikers across the world but we have identified five strikers that have been linked with moves to Arsenal but are very unlikely to join this January transfer window.

1) Karim Benzema

The Real Madrid striker has been linked with a move to Arsenal since last summer. He would fit perfectly into Arsenal’s style of play and he is a very good striker on his day. As much as many fans would love to see Benzema join the Gunners in January, it is highly unlikely that Madrid will be willing to sell their main striker now.

Real are trying to win La Liga and the Champions League and even though they have Ronaldo and Bale, they still need a number nine striker to play which is Benzema. Ancelotti may not be a big fan of Benzema but that is his only option right now. If Madrid do sign a new striker as expected in the summer, then maybe Benzema could make the move to the Emirates.

2) Demba Ba

Another player linked with a move to Arsenal. Yet again, Ba’s style of play would be perfect for Arsenal but it is highly unlikely that Jose Mourinho would allow one of his players to join Arsenal as we are their direct rivals in the Premier League.

Ba has been sitting on the Chelsea bench as he is behind Eto’o and Torres in the pecking order. It is a shame that a player of his qualities is not able to get regular playing time which he would have at Arsenal.

3) Dimitar Berbatov

Berbatov is one of the laziest strikers to play in the Premier League but in the same vein, he is one of the best; he knows how to score which is what we need at Arsenal.

The Fulham striker may not be a perfect fit for Arsenal but with his qualities, he would relish playing ahead of skillful players such as Ozil and Cazorla.

Berba has been linked with a move to Arsenal but Arsene Wenger has come out and said there is no truth in him joining the Gunners. Some say it is a smoke-screen that Wenger is using, but in reality, I can not see Arsene signing a player like Berbatov based on his style of play and his age.

4) Diego Costa

Costa is one of the best strikers in the game today as he is firing in goals for fun in La Liga at Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish striker has been linked with a big money move to Arsenal but it will certainly not happen this January. It is rare for big name players to make moves in January especially if they are in fine form like Costa is, coupled with him wanting to retain that form in a build up to the World Cup in Brazil.

Arsenal will face a big challenge from a whole host of clubs across Europe to try sign Costa in the summer but if we manage to win the Premier League, we will be an even more attractive destination for top players like Costa.

5) Loic Remy

The French striker currently on loan at Newcastle from QPR has been in fine form this season. It is surprising that a player of his qualities is playing for Newcastle; one would have thought a bigger team would have scooped him up.

I am pretty sure he will not be returning to QPR after his loan at Newcastle ends as top teams are going to try sign him.

Not knowing what the rules are (if a player can be sold whilst on loan), I can not see either Newcastle or QPR willing to offload Remy to Arsenal this January. If it were possible then Remy would be a perfect signing for Wenger.
