Wenger still wants to sign Liverpool ace

Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still dreaming of signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. Suarez has been in fine form this season for Liverpool with 17 goals in just 11 appearances. His nearest challenger for the golden boot is Sergio Aguero, who is three goals back on 14 for the term.

In an interview with French TV show Telefoot, Wenger explained how he is still an admirer of Suarez.

Wenger said: “I think that every defender in England hates playing against him. He has a strong, provocative personality. From the information I gathered on him it appears that on a day-to-day level he is really easy to work with.

“Also that he’s respectful, he loves training, he’s an angel. He turns into a demon when he’s on the pitch. We all dream about having players like that.”

Arsenal tried to sign Suarez in the summer by making a 40 million and one pounds bid which they thought would trigger a release clause in the player’s contract. But that bid was turned down by Liverpool. Many saw this as a blunder by Wenger as he had put all his eggs in one basket in trying to sign Suarez and did not have a plan B in terms of another striking option to sign and now we find ourselves with only one decent striker in the form of Olivier Giroud.

I can not see Liverpool willing to sell Suarez in January, let alone to Arsenal as we are a rival to them. It would be great if Suarez were to join Arsenal somehow as he is undoubtedly the best striker in the world right now and just the kind of player we need to take us to the next level.
