Arsenal’s search for a new striker continues and the latest reports are suggesting that Arsene Wenger has managed to convince Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to join the Gunners on loan in January according to reports in Spain.

Morata is below Benzema and Jese in the Madrid striker pecking order and the 21-year old is desperate for some game time.

It is being suggested that Tottenham are also very interested in Morata’s services but Wenger has managed to convince the young striker to come to the Emirates ahead of Spurs. These would be seen as a major victory for Arsenal over our North London rivals.

Morata would be much better off joining Arsenal as he knows he will be guaranteed regular playing time as he will be second choice to Olivier Giroud. The French striker has been carrying the load by himself upfront this season and needs some help which Morata would be able to provide.

It makes sense for Wenger to sign him on loan and see what he is capable of doing. Most of the big name strikers that Arsenal may want to sign such as Benzema, Suarez, Benteke and Ba will be difficult to sign in January as most clubs are not willing to sell during this window. So a loan move may be the most viable option for Wenger.
