Arsenal can sign Brazilian star in January

Julio Cesar to Arsenal

Arsenal may be able to make a major bargain signing in January as QPR have said that Julio Cesar can leave for free, according to the Metro.

Arsenal had previously tried to sign the Brazilian number one in the summer but failed to do so as they were not willing to pay £2million on top of his high wages.

Now QPR boss Harry Redknapp has said, ‘He needs to play and I feel he’s a player who could play for any team in the world.

‘We won’t stand in his way. We’ll let him go for free.’

Arsenal should not miss out on this opportunity to sign one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Wojciech Szczesny is the current number one and recently signed a new contract. Cesar would be able to come in and provide competition to Szczesny as current backup keep Lukasz Fabianski is failing to impress. Italian keeper Emiliano Viviano arrived on-loan in the summer, but he is yet to play for the club, and is expected to leave in the near future.

Ultimately, I would see Cesar taking over as the new number one if he signs for Arsenal. Cesar may be 34-years old but goalkeepers get better with age and I hope Wenger does not say he is too old to play for Arsenal.
