With Bacary Sagna looking less likely to sign a new contract with Arsenal at the end of the season, it is time for Arsenal to starting looking for a potential replacement. Arsenal do have Carl Jenkinson as a replacement for Sagna but the young full back has struggled to be effective in the Arsenal side and thus another player needs to come in.

The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal could revive their interest in Manchester City defender Micah Richards. It is understood that Wenger has always had an eye on 25-year old Richards and now the time may be ready to make an official approach for him. Richards has slipped down the pecking order at Manchester City as Argentine full-back Pablo Zabaleta is the first choice right-back and Manuel Pellegrini is not even picking Richards at centre-back in the absence of Kompany. Clearly the Manchester City manager is not a fan of Richards and a player of his talents should be playing every week in the Premier League.

What I like about Richards is that he already has a lot of Premier League experience so we would not be getting in a player who needs time to adapt to the league. With Richards you are getting a player close to his prime and will still offer a couple more seasons of quality football for Arsenal. There is no doubt that one of his biggest attributes is his physicality and we would certainly benefit from that in the Arsenal side as we are relatively lightweight.

Richards has 18 months left on his current City deal and it would make sense for City to sell him now rather than letting him go for free if they do not want to keep him. Wenger would be wise to test the waters with a bid this January and hear what City say.

This would be a great signing as he can play anywhere across the back for and as a dm. Wenger is not known for signing english players so not sue if he would go for him but we need hus size and experience.
