Mesut Ozil probably had his worst game in an Arsenal shirt to date against Manchester United on Sunday. The German midfielder has been pulling the strings in the Gunners midfield with some breathtaking displays but at Old Trafford, many fans wondered why he went missing.
It seems as though Ozil was also among the sick victims in the Arsenal squad struck with the flu leading up to this game.
Germany national team manager Joachim Löw told German newspaper Bild that Ozil and his Gunners teammate Per Mertesacker had been advised to stay in London and not to fly for Germany’s friendly with Italy on Friday after falling ill.

So Ozil was actually under the weather at Old Trafford and that may be the reason he was so ineffective.
As Arsenal fans, we will not solely blame our defeat to the bought of flu that hit our squad; we admit we had an off day and will be looking to bounce back when Premier League actions resumes.
