England striker linked with move to Arsenal

|

Arsenal continue to be linked with a January transfer for many different strikers across the world. What is clear for all to see is that a new striker has to come in in January and provide cover and support for Olivier Giroud.

The likes of Benzema, Benteke and Ba has been linked with moves to the Emirates but the latest name being mentioned by the Mirror is England’s new hot shot striker Jay Rodriguez.

The 24-year old Southampton striker has had an impressive season so far and that has resulted in him being called up by Roy Hodgson to the England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Chile and Germany.

Rodriguez can either play as a central striker, where he scored 21 goals in his final season for Burnley, or as a wide or supporting striker where he’s been used by Southampton. He would give Arsenal the perfect foil for Giroud when we need to go with two strikers or he can even lead the line by himself if Giroud is not available.

Southampton will do all they can to keep their striker as they are currently sitting in third place on the table and my have European ambitions of their own. But if Arsenal come knocking on the door, I am sure Rodriguez himself would be tempted to join a top club like Arsenal and know that he will actually get some gametime and not just sit on the bench as we are desperate for another striker.

One other England striker who would be a nice to have at Arsenal is Wayne Rooney. Arsene Wenger should put in another cheeky bid for the Manchester United striker like he did for Suarez and see what happens. One person who would really love Rooney at Arsenal if former midfielder Ray Parlour.
