Analysis of Striking options for Arsenal to sign

The sight of Bendtner coming on when Arsenal were in desperate need of a goal at Old Trafford is proof that we need a new striker. Everybody knows it. Arsenal simply lacked a Plan B against United. The Red Devils closed down Arsenal’s central midfielders which explains why the likes of Ramsey and Ozil failed to make an impact.

Ideally, Arsenal need a striker like Robert Lewandowski in January. But given the striker’s desire to move to Bayern Munich next summer, the move probably wouldn’t work out. And Dortmund are still not out of the Champions League, so they probably need the Polish in their team.

Next up in line is either Wayne Rooney or Luis Suarez. Both strikers have been in exquisite form for their clubs this season; the former being named Man of the Match against Arsenal. Again, even a bid of around 50million pounds probably wouldn’t tempt their respective clubs to sell. To make matters worse, Liverpool and United aren’t going to sell to Arsenal – a direct title rival.

Going further down the line, we’ve got Javier Hernandez or Demba Ba. These two strikers are realistic options even though they teams are fighting for the title as well. Chicharito is a goal poacher – the type of striker who would have prodded in at least one of Sagna’s tremendous crosses last night. The ‘Little Pea’ is still a crucial member of United’s team, but he is getting frustrated at being on the bench (and is currently behind RVP, Rooney and Welbeck in the pecking line). He has been urged by his Mexican team mates to move elsewhere, and a bid in the region of 15million pounds should be enough.

Demba Ba is probably Arsenal’s last target this January. He has rarely featured for Mourinho’s men. A deadline day signing in the summer was on the cards for Arsenal for him, but ‘The Special One’ decided against selling to Arsenal after Mesut Ozil made the move to the Emirates. He is strong in the air, and is similar to Giroud in several ways, so a 15million pounds move wouldn’t be too bad. Arsenal could even take him on loan.

Fernando Llorente’s departure from Juventus is highly unlikely after Antonio Conte (Juventus coach) claims there is no way Juventus will be selling him (or send him out on loan).
