Arsenal’s search for a new strikers seems to be taking them back to Chelsea as French newspaper Le 10 Sport is reporting that Demba Ba is on Wenger’s wanted list.

The Gunner’s were close to signing Demba Ba on loan before the transfer window closed but it was suggested that Arsenal were not willing to pay Chelsea a loan fee that they wanted.

Ba currently finds himself out of favour at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho as Torres and Eto’o seem to be his preferred strikers. A player of Ba’s quality should not be wasted on the bench and a move to Arsenal would provide us with much needed cover and competition for Olivier Giroud.

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Suarez, Benzema and Higuain but those deals have not come through. Out of all those strikers, Ba seems to be the most similar to Giroud in terms of style of play and physical attributes. With the current way Arsenal are playing, Ba would slot perfectly into the side.

The reports suggest Arsenal could be willing to offer Chelsea €18million for Ba’s services in the January transfer window. This would be a good bit of business as we would be bringing in a quality striker with Premier League experience. Ba is 28-years old which means that he should be at the peak of his career and thus needs to be playing more regularly. At Arsenal, Wenger would be able to rotate him well with Giroud and keep both strikers on their toes.
