Arsenal have gunned down one of their three title rivals with a commanding performance led by inspirational captain Arteta. It’s very hard to pick a man of the match from this particular game because everyone was immense and put in a great performance.

I had written in a previous piece saying I preferred TV5 to Arteta but I have been proven wrong by the magnificent display from the captain. He bossed the midfield with discipline and focus. Liverpool’s midfielders were given neither space nor time on the ball for much of the game. Arteta brought us that composure and stability Arsenal lack at times. Mertesacker at the back was magnificent. His composure and overall awareness was unbelievable from beginning to end. Ozil was a constant menace as was Rosicky.

Santi’s display in the first half was filled with purpose and hunger and was eventually rewarded by a goal in the 19th minute. Man of the match (again!!!) Rambo did it again with a classy finish on the 59th minute that completed his very important but understated role in the midfield. Bendtner will have surely jotted down notes from Giroud’s tireless display on how you can contribute to the team even when you are not at your sharpest.

Arsenal now sit five points clear at the top after Chelsea’s defeat to Newcastle. Being where we are with all our supposed “lack of depth” is a very respectable position that deserves a lot of praise. Imagine the abundance of choice and class we will have when Walcott, Flamini, Podolski and The-OX are back. Who will stop us then??
