The defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday in the Capital One Cup was a bitter blow for Arsenal but there is some good news today, Lukas Podolski is now back in training!

The German forward has been out of action for two months after he got injured Arsenal’s 5-0 Champions League qualifying win against Fenerbahce with a hamstring injury in August.

But Podolski now appears to be ready to return to action in first-team action after posting a picture at Arsenal’s London Colney training complex on Tuesday via Twitter and saying: ‘I ve been waiting for this moment – back on the pitch!;)’.

It will be interesting to see where Wenger decides to play Podoloski when he is fit again. We are very well stocked right now with attacking midfielders but Lukas will add slightly more to what we have.

One option I would like to see Wenger explore is using Podolski is an out and out striker. He has played that role very well for the German national side and currently we only have Giroud as our main striker. If need be, Podolski should be able to slot in there and feed off the supplies of Ozil, Cazorla etc.

We all saw Bendtner on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup and he looked terrible. The Danish striker can not be what we rely on if Giroud is out injured or resting. We need another striking option so the return of Podolski is a great boost for the club and something we need after the heartache of losing to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup.
