Marouane Fellaini was a wanted man by many clubs across the Premier League during the summer transfer window. It was rumoured at the time that Arsene Wenger was interested in the midfielder but instead we signed Ozil and Fellaini went to United.

But the Belgian player has now revealed that Arsenal did indeed want to sign him.

‘I don’t want to tell you everything what happened during the transfer,’ he said to beIN Sport. ‘This was done at the last minute.

‘In a transfer window, there is always a list of players, you never know if it’s true or not. But for me, I knew [Moyes] was interested in me.

‘Chelsea? No comment. Arsenal? It’s true, they were interested, but Manchester United convinced me to sign for them.’

Fellaini has not had the best of times so far this season at United and has really struggled to make an impact. Maybe it is the pressure of a £27million tag weighing over him or Manchester United have simply been poor all round. In the past, players joining United were walking into a team high on confidence and winning so for new players it was easy to adjust. But now that they are struggling, question marks will continue to put put towards Fellaini.

One can imagine if he would have fitted in at Arsenal if indeed Wenger signed him. I do not think so, his style of play would not have suited us well at all. His physicality may have helped us in defence but besides that; it is a good thing we got Ozil instead of Fellaini.
