Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has hinted that he may need a break as he is starting to feel the effects of being Arsenal’s sole striker. The French international was speaking after the Dortmund game and said, ‘I feel good. Maybe I will have some rest next week, for the Capital One Cup, I will speak to the boss.

‘I’m used to playing a lot of games and I feel good with my body so touch wood, no injuries.’

I totally agree with Giroud, for the Capital One Cup he must not play and have a proper rest. Nicklas Bendtner can come in for that one. But the fact still remains that we can not continue the whole season with just Giroud. It is only October and here you have Giroud already suggesting he needs a break. Wenger must do all he can in January and bring in a quality striker.

Giroud also went on to air his disappointment at Arsenal’s defeat to Dortmund, saying that we should have held on for the draw but just fell asleep and that cost us the points.

‘After the first half Dortmund were not as good, maybe tired, and we were really close to score the second one,’ Giroud said.

‘But they kept going and scored on the counter-attack. It’s a shame because we could have done much better.

‘We finished the game better than them and that’s why I’m really disappointed because if we couldn’t win the game, we didn’t have to lose it – maybe draw. In the Champions League it’s like that, about the details.’
