It is being reported that a club, thought to be Arsenal, is set to make a £43million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in January.

Arsenal do need another striker as Giroud is currently the only recognised striker on the books and if he gets injured or has a dip in form then there is no one to come in. Wenger is known to be a long term admirer of Benzem and there was even a suggestion that Wenger tried to sign the 25-year old Frenchman in the summer but Madrid turned the move down.

But respected agent Francois Gallardo says an unnamed Premier League club – almost certainly Arsenal – will try and get Benzema in the new year.

‘A very important Premier League club is after Karim,’ Gallardo told Le Sport 10.

‘This club wants the transfer to happen this winter, but if this is not possible, then next summer at the latest.

‘The offer will be around €50million [£43million].’

This would be a great signing for Arsenal and would really show their desire to push for major honours. One striker will not get the job done thus more cash has to be splashed to bring in another world class player. Having already spent £42.5million on Mesut Ozil, Weneger is set to still want to continue spending big.

£43million for Benzema is way too much. Arsenal are better off spending £30million for Lewandowski, or just £25million for Benzema.

Waste of money if you ask me! He is not even worth £10M. Why are RM bent on wanting to get rid of him? They made a mistake with Ozil and have realised that they sold the wrong player! If you ask me again, I will tell you that Ozil can supply a killer pass to a muse and he will score. Now Ozil is no longer at RM Benzima has been found out!! Please don’t buy him Mr Wenger!

I don’t want to believe a club like Arsenal will invest such an amount on Benzema, he can not justify such a huge amount in d pitch. I will prefer the like of even Michu, Benteke and not Benzema. we need a world class player like Mesut Ozil who justify d amount spent on him in just 11 minutes on d pitch, that is d hallmark of a complete professional. Benzema is not the man in my candid opinion.
