Latest Ozil Injury Update: Should he play?

|

Arsenal have been given a boost by the news that record-signing Mesut Ozil will be fit for this week’s clash against Norwich. The German picked up a knock while on international duty and he limped off straight down the tunnel during the game. However, Arsenal’s medical team confirmed that it was just a minor injury and he should be fit this week.

This is exciting news for the Gunners, as Santi Cazorla is also fit from his injury. This Saturday could be the first time Arsenal fans see Cazorla and Ozil play together. Should Wenger opt to start the two together, it would mean Jack Wilshere making the bench. Wilshere has been playing in the left wing in recent games; a position where Santi Cazorla occupied and thrived last season.

Despite this, I personally think Wenger should rest Mesut Ozil in the game this weekend. Although it was a minor knock, it’s best if he is rested. He has played in every game for Arsenal since his arrival, and he played in both international games for Germany last week. This is especially crucial, as Arsenal have a midweek game against dangerous Borussia Dortmund coming up and a fit and firing Ozil is important.
