Football is a funny game and the transfer market in the sport is no different. Right now we could have Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Pepe Reina as our number one if only the Liverpool owners back in 2010 had not blocked him from moving to Arsenal.
Liverpool were going through a really tough time on and off the field last year and Reina was thinking of jumping ship and Arsenal apparently made a £20million pound offer for the Spanish keeper but it was turned down by Liverpool.
Reina explains what happened in his recent autobiography and said, “Arsenal had made their determination to sign me clear by offering £20m, a phenomenal amount for a goalkeeper. Part of me felt that I was well within my rights to consider my future even if I did so with a heavy heart.
“When Liverpool received the bid, they rejected it. This was not because I had been told that I was too good a keeper to leave. The reason I was given was quite different – and it left me feeling down. I was told that my continued presence was crucial to the sale of the club. I was simply a bargaining chip in the sales process.”
It is interesting to wonder what could have been of Arsenal today if we had managed to sign Reina as he is a top draw keeper in my opinion. But now we have Szczesny who is doing a fairly good job now. Who would you rather have in goal for Arsenal,Reina or Szczesny?

Can you cool it please? You’ve filled the website with the same message about Reina. What is so big about him now that our Cezza is just as good? This what devalues your website. Replicating the same message makes you look inferior. Can you see the same happening in the printed media? Why not? Answer that and you’ll improve this website.
Also imagine if we’d got petr cech all those years before chelsea, or cristiano ronaldo right before man u like was in the works, or if messi didnt have a visa issue when we got fabregas, or got frank lampard and john terry when wenger was going after them or xabi alonso. things like that happen, we have to work with what we have now.
