Arsenal were too slow in signing Ghana international

The transfer window may be closed but there is still a lot of talk about Arsenal and the transfer market. It was no secret that Arsenal were desperate to bring ion some new players after the departure of Fabregas and Nasri coupled with the hammering we got at Old Trafford. Wenger did as best as he could to bring in some new faces before the transfer window closed but it is emerging now what Arsenal failed in a bid to sign Ghanaian midfielder Andre Ayew from Marseille.

According to Mercato365.com.fr, Arsenal were keeping a close eye on Ayew and made a bid for him on August 15.

Arsenal, however, moved too slowly, with Ayew’s €13 million buyout clause having expired by August 15 and, thus, missed the opportunity to sign the Ghana international for a relatively low fee.

Ayew is said to be dejected by this move not going through. Ayew plays as a winger, but can play as a striker. He is the second-born son of the three-time winner of the African Footballer of the Year award and FIFA 100 member Abedi Pele.
