With only a few hours to go before the transfer window closes, Arsenal have announced the signing of Brazilian left-back star Andres Santos from Fenerbahce.

The 29-year-old will come sure up the leaky Arsenal defence and should slot straight into the starting lineup. This is the kind of signing we needed: an experienced player who can do the job for us straight away.

Wenger told Arsenal’s official website: “Santos is a quality player, with the ability to both defend well and get forward and help with attacks.

“He has experience in the Champions League and for Brazil and has proven he can deliver at the highest level. We welcome Santos to the club and look forward to him having a big impact for us.”

Santos added: “I am delighted to have signed for Arsenal. It was one of my dreams to play for a major European football club and I have accomplished this.

“I am very happy to be part of this team. All the Brazilians who came to this club spoke wonders about it and I am delighted to be part of the Arsenal family.”

i am happy that arsene wenger and the board after the humiliation on last sunday match against man united decided to start signing.

  2. Clement Chirman says:

Finally, Arsene Wenger has come to terms with the facts that in sports, the judgment of the spectators matter too. If these signings had been done earlier, the humiliation, last Sunday, at old Trafford would have been avoided
