With only a few days to go before the transfer window closes and following our display on Sunday against Manchester United, we clearly need to bring in a centre-back or two. The latest speculation from Sky Sports is that Arsenal or targeting Chelsea’s Brazilian centre-back Alex.

Alex has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea and he wants to leave so that he gets more regular first team football. If Arsenal were to sign him, he would walk straight into or starting lineup and play alongside Vermaelen.

Signing Alex would not be a bad move at all for Arsenal as he is highly rated and will give us a great option at taking free-kicks.

We have been linked Bolton’s Gary Cahill, Everton’s Phil Jagielka, Blackburn’s Chris Samba and Birmingham’s Scott Dann but none of those deals have come through and it is panic time at Arsenal so we have to sign who ever we can get at this stage.
