Arsenal’s starting lineup against Manchester United

|

Arsenal take on Manchester United at Old Trafford today (Sunday) in what will always be a big game on our calendar. It is not going to be an easy game for us and many people are already writing us off saying united are going to beat us. On paper and current form, yes we may lose but we have to keep the faith.

We won in midweek against Udinese and we should carry that form this afternoon.

This coming season, we have starting a ‘Starting Lineup Predictor’ on TheGooner.com where we will try guess what starting lineup Arsene Wenger is going to put out before a game.

Today it is going to be tricky as we have a lot of suspensions and injuries.

In goal, Wojeich Szczesny will continue. Thomas Vermaelen is an injury doubt for today as he will undergo a late fitness test but I see him being passed fit for this big game. He will most likely start alongside Laurent Koscielny who is also an injury concern. Sagna should continue at left-back with Jenkinson at right-back.

In the middle of the park, we are still without Wilshere due to injury and Song and Frimpong are still suspended. We are very short of options now and this is a sign that Wenger needs to strengthen this department before Wednesday. So from what we have we may be forced to play Djourou as our holding midfielder and then have Ramsey and Rosicky alongside him. Not the best of midfields but we should be able to challenge United’s as they are not that strong in that department.

Wenger will stick with our three-pronged attack and that should be Walcott down the right, Arshavin on the left and Van Persie up-front. Gervinho is also suspended so we can not use him.

So in a nutshell, I see us playing with: Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Rosicky, Djourou, Walcott, Arshavin, Van Persie.

Who do you think will be in the starting lineup today?

Good news,,Arsene decided to resume his footballing career. he will be playing either as a left back or holding midfielder or as an attacking mid fielder, or ever as a striker if needed. Arsenal FC consider Arsene as a new signing who can play in any position on the pitch. This has raised the morale of the players and are expecting a huge win against ManU

    All the best.

  • Foster says:

What i think we should do is to strong our defence, if we try to push pressure out of our side by clearing any shit, it will help us much. And also quick pass, if we go on dribbling, we may extra-ordinarily lose this match. We must go with faith and confidence. I wish Wenger will see or hear this post of mine.

    Szczesny,
    Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Traore,
    Ramsey, Rosicky,
    Walcott, Arshavin, Oxlade-Chamberlain
    Van Persie
Unlike the last few years, we’ll likely not dominate possession and get caught on the counter attack as we have a very different midfield. Let Ramsey and Rosicky sit back deep and protect the back 4, both are capable of making the right passes. Use the speed of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain to put ManU under pressure. Arshavin and RvP are both excellent at link up play, full of trickery, tough guys and can help use the width of the field as well as the pace of the wide players.

let us hope that we shall win after along defet.

  • castin says:

What is wrong with the Arsenal board – they saw what happened, they have to pressurise Wenger to buy quality players cause seriously 8-2 was a humiliating result. Arsene has to change his style of play to put a formation like 4-3-3 BECAUSE Arsenal has many strikers. With the remaining amount of money, please Wenger buy players. Arsenal is lacking defenders and a keeper. Just buy players with experience like Pirlo, Requelme, Podolski, Smalling, Agger, Puyol, Tevez and the like otherwise Arsenal is going down the drain.

  • castin says:

Arsenal’s 8-2 defeat is all due to the stingy Arsenal Board

  • benard edward says:

hope if wenger signs in tevez things will be allright

  • Moses Samson says:

why our do not want to listen to his players and also do not want to bring strikers to Arsenal.
