Arsenal’s search for a new centre-back has taken an extra step forward. We have been linked with the likes of Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka and Chris Samba but it seems as if Arsene Wenger has decided to go for Birmingham’s Scott Dann as his preferred centre-back option.
This does not surprise me at all as Dann is coming in at a much cheaper fee than the three I have mentioned above. Why do we always go for the cheaper option? It is being suggested that Arsenal have already opened talks with the 24-year-old defender ahead of a possible £8million move. The likes of Cahill and Jagielka are being quoted at £17million.
Do you think that Dann would be a good signing for Arsenal or would you rather have us splash the cash and bring in Cahill or Jagielka?

I think is a very good signing because he has much premier league experience and we can deal with his injury problems

samba?? seriously.. the guy will be too slow because of the high line we play.. yes he will help us during setpieces but u do realise that the game is not only about set pieces right??
mr wenger though this signing is not bad but gary cahil stands the brighter experience and injury free than the rest. Sign Cahil please wenger.

i prefer Gary Cahill is an English International at lease he will comand respect from premiership officials

Arsenal does NOT need Samba!!! Cahill perhaps. Don’t know much about Dann; but having played for a relegated club doesn’t make him a bad defender – the TEAM got relegated!
Good signing but we still need Cahill the besht defender in the premier legue to sign.Wenger sell Fab and Nasri and buy the likes of Mata,cahill and Hazard only three …and We take EPL PAP!

We bought Carl Jenkinson for £1 million, Gervihno for £11 million and AOC for £12, and then sold Clichy for £7 million, JET for £1 million. So that means we’ve spent just £16 million in this summer transfer. If AW really has been granted a huge transfer kitty like they said, then of cos’ we should splash the cash on a high quality defender. Anyway, we shouldn’t be worried about the money to buy Juan Mata and/or Benzema because those funds would be funded by sales of Cesc and/or Nasri.
Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka and Chris Samba i think three of them stunning defenders,but cahil is the best one.
Though i’ll feel bad if AW opted to buy Dann as an option @ our centre defence. Not tha he’s(Dan) is a bad player, but Cahill is more of a better and experiece player in that role that Dan. And AW shouldn’t bother persuading either Nasri or Cesc,. I beif we have a better replacement in Juan Mata, he shld just add an prience striker like Hazzard or Benzema & we’re set for the premiership.
